Marcella Gulmon never considered herself a history buff. In fact, she found the subject rather dull for most of her life. But that hasn't stopped her from becoming the foremost historian of the Santa Clara County Fair, spending countless hours preserving decades of memories and memorabilia.

SCCFMC has appointed Salene Duarte as its new Executive Director. Duarte, a lifelong enthusiast of the Fairgrounds and an experienced leader, previously served as the Santa Clara County Fair Manager until June 2024. She was then appointed Co-Interim Director alongside Armando Carlos. Her permanent role as Executive Director officially began on June 1, 2025.

The Santa Clara County Fair is "Still Hare and Kickin'," and organizers are excited to invite the community to join the celebrations from July 30 to August 3, 2025, at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. Marking an impressive 81 years of cherished traditions and unforgettable memories, this year’s Fair promises a family-friendly experience that caters to all ages.

Cirque du Soleil returns to San Jose with its new show “Echo,” an experience inspired by the connection between humans and animals. The production, which debuted in 2023, will take place under a big top at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. “Echo” promises a mix of acrobatics, poetry, music, and visual effects, as it follows Future, the protagonist, exploring the symbiotic relationship between humanity and the animal kingdom.

San Jose residents Marcella and Gary Gulmon are longtime supporters of the Santa Clara County Fair. Gary Gulmon helps run the Junior Livestock Auction Buyers Coalition, which solicits donations from the community to purchase animals, and Marcella Gulmon is spearheading an effort to create a permanent fairgrounds history museum.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - At the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, the San Jose Earthquakes are building a massive new training facility complete with medical facilities, locker rooms, a theater and a dining hall.

After several years of discussions, Santa Clara County announced Wednesday that it will lease 30-acres of the county fairgrounds to the San Jose Earthquakes to build eight soccer fields as well as a training and practice facility for the club.

The San Jose Earthquakes and South Bay officials are taking a big step in long-held plans to develop a public and private soccer field complex at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds.

The organizers who brought the first-ever Latin EDM festival to San Jose are also planning for the holiday festivities. San Jose Foos is hosting its fourth annual toy drive next month, the organization announced in a news release. The toy drive will take place on the weekend of Dec. 14-15 at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds at 544 Tully Road in San Jose. Doors will open at noon for families to experience a “one-of-a-kind holiday shopping experience.”

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KION-TV)- The San Jose Earthquakes have announced plans to build public soccer fields and a training facility at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds on Wednesday morning.

City and county partner with the Earthquakes to strike a lease deal for the 30-acre, 8-field project.

The professional soccer team will lease the land from Santa Clara County and pay $50 million for the development.

Plans to revamp the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds into a sports and recreation facility have been progressing for more than a year, but it’s unclear when shovels will hit the ground.

A development proposal between Santa Clara County and the San Jose Earthquakes released on Tuesday shows plans for an extensive sports complex at the fairgrounds in the Spartan Keyes neighborhood that could include six public turf fields. Another four would be exclusively for the soccer team.

The San Jose Earthquakes may build one or more public soccer fields at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds if they cut a deal with the county that allows them to also build at least one practice field for the team.

Flanked by San Jose Earthquakes executives, soccer players and City of San Jose leaders, Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez unveiled a major signed agreement allowing Santa Clara County and the San Jose Earthquakes organization to partner with the City of San Jose to develop four public, lighted, world-class turf soccer fields on the County’s Fairground property.
