New Free COVID-19 Drive-Thru Testing Site at the Fairgrounds Parking Lot
Starting on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and the Public Health Department have opened a new, free COVID-19 testing site at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds parking lot. This large testing site will be by appointment only at this time. If you are interested, here are all the important details to help you, your colleagues, and your family members get tested.
Where is this drive-thru testing site located?
The Santa Clara Fairgrounds Parking Lot drive-thru testing site is located at 411 Tully Road, San Jose, CA 95111. This drive-thru location is across the street from the Fairgrounds main entrance (blue arch) in Parking Lot A. Testing hours are currently Tuesday – Friday (12:00PM – 6:30PM) and Saturday (9:00AM – 3:00PM).
Who is eligible to get tested?
Anyone. All ages are welcome regardless if you currently have COVID-19 symptoms or not.
What kind of COVID-19 test is it?
It is a nasal swab given by a medical staff member. To see how testing is administered, check out this quick video preview.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjLBKyVha5M
Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes. Currently, tests are available on an appointment-basis only.
You can make an appointment
You will need to make separate appointments for each person receiving a test.
As part of the appointment process, you will be asked questions about possible symptoms, exposure and risk but your responses will not affect your ability to receive a test.
Does the test cost anything?
No. This test is free.
When you register for an appointment, your insurance information will be collected for the test to be billed so please have that information ready. Again, there is no copay or out-of-pocket cost to anyone getting a COVID-19 nasal swab test.
How will I get my test results?
The anticipated turnaround time is 3-5 days. Individuals with positive results will be contacted by phone; those with a negative result will receive notification by email.
Why is testing important?
By having you, your family members, coworkers and clients get tested, you will know your status and take the actions necessary to help reduce the spread of the virus.
County Health Officer, Dr. Cody summarized the three steps that each one of us should do in order for us to get our businesses back to work, to get our kids back in school and learning and to get our lives back and that is:
- Get Tested
- Know Your Status
- Take Action
